Today, June 14, is the day set aside to honor our flag, although I feel the flag should be honored every day. Our flag stands for freedom, And we are so very proud, When it waves in the breeze, It usually draws a crowd. Its colors are so beautiful, The red, white and blue, And when you see them up close, They are so very true. So today we celebrate our flag, And this I want to say, Wave your flag with honor, On this very special day. I found this poem, "Our Beautiful Flag", by Debbie Bongiovanni, and thought it would be appropriate to post it today. We have a lot of problems in our country: much social strife, government leaders who are more interested in measuring peckers than in solving our problems, much unemployment, just to mention a few. But with all of our problems and turmoil, we are way ahead of whatever country is in second place and nobody will ever tell me any different. May our flag always wave in freedom.
