Today Nancy and I were honored to attend the dedication ceremony - TopicsExpress

Today Nancy and I were honored to attend the dedication ceremony for the S-Sgt Kenneth Amick Memorial bridge near Charleston, WV. All three of his sons and his sister, along with numerous friends and family members were in attendance. I have been corresponding with Amicks eldest son, Robert, since mid-April and hes been extremely generous with his time and memories. He also put me in contact with the daughter of another former WVANG member (and his childhood friend) Betty Bostic-Wohlford. She filled me in on some details of her fathers crash at Kanawha Airport in December of 1947. Earlier this month I also made contact with both the sister and son of T-Sgt William H. Shelton. They too have been quite gracious and helpful. Between us we are trying to figure out whether he had flown one or two missions in the European Theater during WWII. They have promised me some copies and photographs, so Im sure there will be a lot more material to come. I also spoke with Frank Moll, the tailgunner from Sheltons crew during his stint with the 385th Bomb Group. Though our conversation was brief he gave me some insight about what his crewmate was like during their combat tour together. Of course, all of these new contacts means there is now a small notebook full of updates and information I will be including in the next few weeks. It looks like Im going to be busier than ever...
