Today News : Dec 18, 2014 CHENNAI: A man was found dead in an unreserved compartment of the Guruvayur-Chennai Egmore Express train by the government railway police (GRP) on Tuesday. He has been identified as P Govindan Kutty, a school teacher from Malappuram in Kerala. Police recovered a small phone diary from the deceased and contacted one Muralidharan - Govindans cousin -- who is on his way to Chennai with relatives. We are surprised to know that he went to Chennai, he said. According to police, Govindans family has no clue about how he travelled 70km from Malappuram to Guruvayur from where he boarded the train early Tuesday morning. We have to ask the members of Govindans family to find out if there were any problems that compelled him to leave his hometown, a policeman said. GRP have registered a case under Section 174 (unnatural death) of CrPc. Investigations are also on. Police are now waiting for Govindans family to reach Chennai. They have to identify the corpse. We will take them to the mortuary before the autopsy, police said. Govindan, who is survived by a wife and two daughters, was found in the empty coach by railway housekeeping staff who then alerted the GRP. The train had reached Egmore station at 9.10pm. Though police rushed Govindan to the Government General Hospital, doctors declared him brought dead. Preliminary examination said that Govindan might have died of cardiac arrest a couple of hours before the train reached Egmore.
