Today, November 20, 2014, I am grateful for the relationship my husband and I have developed over the years with the help of the Program. Yesterday we received a phone call that Tommys sponsor of 30+ years, Peters death appears to be imminent. We have known for a long time that it was coming but had hoped he would make it a little longer, at least into next year. Anyway, we were able to sit down, discuss what needed to be done, recognize that it was important for Tommy to be there for himself as well as vitally important that he be there for the sponsors daughter, Scarlett, who is our god daughter. Scarlett and Tommy have always been close, but have gotten extremely close over the last few years as Peter was failing. So, we made the reservation and he leaves this evening. This is really a no brainer decision, but the reason I am so grateful for our relationship is that we were able to make this decision without letting the fact that it means we will not be together on our very, very favorite holiday, Thanksgiving, stand in the way. We have had 46 together and will be fine missing one. So I am grateful for the things I have learned and continue to learn that help me with everyday living and the decisions that need to be made.
