Today, President Obama signed the Veterans Access, Choice & Accountability Act of 2014, an important bill to improve accountability and access to care for veterans at the Department of Veterans Affairs. This bill marks a first step towards fixing the problems at the VA and will allow veterans to access non-VA hospitals, fire senior employees for mismanagement, fix the in-state tuition for the post-9/11 GI Bill, and hire more health professionals in the VA. I look forward to working with VA Secretary Bob McDonald and with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to ensure full accountability and that our veterans receive the high-quality health care to which their service and sacrifice entitle them.
