Today RSPN, in collaboration with the National Rural Support Programme, held its 6th National Convention of LSOs in Islamabad. The event was attended by over 500 people, of which 250 participants were members from 150 LSOs from all over the country. The events Chief Guest was Dr. Naeem uz Zafar, Member Planning Commission Pakistan. This years convention focused on the Millennium Development Goals where LSOs presented their work in the areas of poverty alleviation, education, health (especially maternal and child health), the environment and womens empowerment. The convention presented an opportunity for federal and provincial government representatives, international donors, NGOs and members of civil society to see the exceptional work of organised rural communities.
