Today, September 11, 2014, I am grateful for learning that it is important to walk your talk. In other words, it is one thing to say the right thing, but another to actually do it. Sunday morning the bill for the room was pushed under the door. We had eaten breakfast on Friday and Saturday and dinner on Thursday in the hotel restaurant and charged all three to the room. When I looked at the bill, I realized that one breakfast wasnt on the bill. I would like to tell you that I immediately knew what to do, but I didnt. I wrestled with myself in my mind - it is too much trouble to bother them with since I dont know how much the bill was for (Tommy had paid and may or may not have still had a receipt for it but he was in DC) - no, the right thing to do is to tell them - no, it is their fault, they should have charged it - no you are going to feel bad later if you dont tell them, etc. Ultimately, I did stop at the desk on my way to breakfast and told them. They looked stunned, thanked me profusely and said they would look into it. If they figure it out they will contact me, but if not, not to worry. Anyway, last night at a meeting when we were talking about amends I realized that walking the talk on Sunday has freed me from the internal strife and eventual need to make an amend that would have come from doing the wrong thing. If we live according to spiritual principles, we will know harmony in our lives. If we ignore these principles, our harmony will be destroyed. Fortunately, the principles are constant. Once we recognize our mistakes, our task is to once again apply the principles we learned and harmony will return. Day by Day - Second Edition by Anonymous Happy Thursday everyone.
