Today, St. Basil of Ostrog Church was most honored to host - TopicsExpress

Today, St. Basil of Ostrog Church was most honored to host professional opera singer, Angeline Petronijevic, as we were graced with her riveting performance of two selections that included one from the opera, La Bohème. Her incredibly beautiful voice silenced the room. Children froze in their steps as they heard Angelines incredible rendition of this famous opera selection. She received standing ovations for both of her selections. She brought some of the audience to tears. Angeline was also a guest speaker in high school church school class today where she shared parts of her lifes journey that brought her to where she is today. When asked when and how she decided to become a singer and perform opera she told the class that she made and announced her decision to her parents at age three. Her mother had filled the house with the constant playing of classical music from her earliest years. When she started singing at the age of three she told her parents that she would become a singer and take care of them. She told students about some of the struggles she faced in her early years of school. They were so interested and encouraged by her words of advice. She mentioned that combining your passion with something you can make a living at could be a good thing. When asked if she gets nervous before performances and how to handle that she shared that she does get nervous, but before every performance she prays the Lords prayer. She added that she sings for God and that really helps her to do her best. She told students that because of some learning challenges she faced along the way she had to face some negative things along the way in how she was treated by some people because she learned differently from others. She reminded students that hard work will help you greatly. Thank you Angeline for your wisdom, your life experiences, and sharing your God-given talents with the faithful of St. Basil of Ostrog Church. We look forward to a concert of your songs in Spring 2015. From all our hearts, thank you for making this Sunday such a special day. Todays gospel reminded us of someone who had so much and he never thought of others or sharing.....today...you shared something incredible with all of us.
