Today Sunday November 16th, 2014 I would never forget. I was meant to get back to my Mother and family this evening and savour the taste of Mamas soup. Before I embarked on the journey, I got a phone call from my Mother not to embark on that journey but to proceed tomorrow morning but I insisted on making it back this evening. My bosom friend Agbo Alex who had played me host and other friends had dropped me off at the bus station and left after the goodbye greeting rituals. I boarded a bus and on the same bus was an old school mate, who in turn was excited to run into me again after all these years. We relished old school memories and her companion was not left out in the discussion. Happily we engaged in that lovely evening chat, seated at the last row of the bus, journeying down to Aba together when the unthinkable happened. The driver had oversped and slammed into another vehicle with the bus wildly spinning around and finally plunged into a gutter. In the very short and quick moment, I held myself together and kept my cool, My thought only on God and my lovely family. Then BANG ! Came the impact. I was unhurt, only a small bump on my head as I had slammed my head on the roof of the bus. I helped and elderly fellow seated beside me to untangle his leg caught in a mangled seat and then exited through the shattered side window. Coming out, I bowed to God, raised both hands in thanksgiving and I recoiled to reminisce on how fragile life really is. God spared me, He gave me a second chance. I placed a call to my host and started making it back to him with help from two old school mates married to each other who had spotted us while driving past, grateful that we were unhurt, they dropped us off. I am humbled and remain ever grateful to Jehovah, who spared me. Thank You Jesus Christ, Thank You God!
