Today... Today... Today... What a day... This had to be the day - TopicsExpress

Today... Today... Today... What a day... This had to be the day that I left my phone in my room to charge while I went to my Critical Thinking course. On my way back to my room around 3, a colleague of mine asked me, what do you think about the Eagles letting go of Jackson? I immediately denied is statement by asking if it was Vick he was referring to. He insisted that it was DeSean Jackson and told me to try and take it easy. When I finally got to my room I immediately see the headline scrolling at the bottom of ESPN: Eagles release Jackson. I was absolutely disappointed and a little angry. I sat there for 2 hours listening to accusations about attitude, work ethic, gang affiliations, or not worth paying 10M dollars. And while all of the reporters, reports, analysts, and lack of Eagles input (two sentences), I could only think was: DESEAN WILL NEVER RETIRE AS AN EAGLE. One of the issues I have with the Eagles is their lack of dedication to keeping their players all the way to the end of their playing career (McNabb, Westbrook, Akers, Dawkins especially). I remember when he was drafted in 2008 and now looking at 2014?, I cant believe we are letting go of one of our own... AGAIN! And I know Jackson is gonna have a hell of a career for the rest of his career. Unfortunately were not gonna be on the receiving end of that after 6 years of his production. I will always consider DeSean Jackson as one of the greatest wide receivers/playmakers in Eagles history. No matter how much people just wanna move on, I will not just forget all of his contributions to this team; I just wont! There are so many memories I have been apart of and I am proud to have seen him grow with my Eagles. I wanna say so much but this is my last thing: From the bottom of my heart, I thank you DeSean for your electrifying plays, inspiration to many youngsters in your community, your swagger and attitude, and for being the best receiver on this team for the past 6 years... 6 years... I cant thank you enough. Much love and success to you... Go with God, my brotha.......... :( (P.S. My girlfriend has my Jackson jersey, so as soon as I get it, I will represent...)
