Today Tom and I wrapped up filming the episode introducing our upcoming expedition to Peru! Hes holding up a specimen of Vandellia plazaii, the Amazonian freshwater creature better known as a “penis fish,” aptly named for its ability to detect urine flow in the water, where it then swims up the stream to literally lodge itself into the individual’s penis. Thankfully, theres only been 1 documented case of this happening, but frankly thats one time too many for comfort levels. We leave in 18 days!
