Today a child was walked into my son’s school by two plain clothes police officers for making threats of bringing a gun to school. Prior to that, this same child has consistently made statements about suicide and depression in addition to fighting in school and going so far as stabbing kids with pencils. For over 6 months now the school and district would not act on this situation as it should have with the speed of a cheetah. Instead, we had to wait for him to threaten our children like he has even though he calls for help daily on his Facebook page. The next time you see a tragedy in the media that has taken place in our schools keep in mind that more than likely someone tried to stop it. Unfortunately someone else may have been too busy, too scared or tied with too much red tape to stop it.
