Today a huge beast of a shepherd/mastiff mix came in. Just about - TopicsExpress

Today a huge beast of a shepherd/mastiff mix came in. Just about ten months old, and at least 130-150 pounds, I approached his owner and asked if I could pet him and offer him some treats from the treat bar. For some reason I picked the smallest treats, and watched as my hand disappeared into a cavernous mass of a canine head. Very gently he took each treat separately and with great care, and despite the fact I couldnt view my hand OR my fingers I knew everything was intact. His big beastly tail whipped about, and he jogged back to his human momma, so proud of himself. Apparently he is a bit shy and seems to be coming out of his shell. I encouraged his owner to bring him back, and Ill continue to give him treats so he knows strangers arent to be feared. He was a huge beastly beast with excellent manners. I am reminded every day how lucky I am to work with the beasts, it is privilege and I am very blessed. On a side note, I had to carry an UNRULY ferret from the back of the store to the front today, and the bugger was so squirmy and bity I hid him under my shirt and held the edges down to prevent him from escaping. Then I realized, I just pinned a squirmy bitey poopy stinky rabid weasel next to my flesh. Not a good move ;) No harm, no foul, but from now on Ill think before shirting a weasel.
