Today a new client arrived with their 14 month old Lab, Bear for a two week board & train. Bear has the typical issues that I commonly see. He jumps up, pulls on walks, bolts through doors, doesnt wait on food or kennel up. He is a dog without manners and he definitely is not respectful to humans. I will be training Bear for the next two weeks to respect humans and thresholds and to place and remain on place until released. The structured walk will also be a big part of his training. No pulling, jumping, lunging, marking, sniffing or mouthing on the leash will be allowed on the walk. Bears will also be e-collar trained. At the end of his two week board & train, he will be off-leash trained on the recall as well as to sit & down with distractions, distance and duration. Bear has a lot of work ahead of him but, I have no doubt that he will do an awesome job. This video was taken today when Bear arrived. His owner is attempting to walk him. The video shows that Bear is definitely in charge while being walked. This is something that I will be correcting immediately.
