Today a student comes to me and says, You work here? I do. You make bank? I mean, I dont know about bank. You make enough? And without contention but with a grin I said yes, I make enough. Enough. And as he walked away I thought about that. Enough. Do you make enough? What is enough? How many times have we heard our parents say Ive had enough, or said it ourselves? In my (and many of our) constant desire for more in life - more of the good and less of the bad, I started to see whats happening in my life as enough. As it reminded me of the old Irish blessing or quote I have seen many times that starts with May you always have enough, I spent the day in my downtime thinking about what that meant to me. Its been a challenging couple of days with a lot going on, but I thought maybe this is enough - these are enough challenges to keep me feeling blessed. And on the way home I decided what I need enough of, and wanted to share it with you, in the hopes that maybe it will inspire you to think of what enough means in your world. I hope to always have enough money to fulfill all of my needs and most of my desires. Enough heartaches so that I graciously accept love. Enough friendships to fill my heart. Enough travel to keep me grounded. Enough sunshine to value the rain; and enough rain to appreciate the sun. Enough knowledge that I remain steadfast. Enough trials to keep me humble; enough falls to keep me on my toes. And when my enoughs spill over, enough generosity to share them with others. May you also always have enough.
