Today, all Arizona flags are flying at half-staff in honor of United States Army Specialist Wyatt J. Martin from Mesa, Arizona. Specialist Martin died Friday, December 12, in Parwan Province, Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. From the Arizona Republic: “Martin is remembered by family and friends as having a ‘bigger than life’ personality and as an inspiration to all who knew him. Julie Martin, Wyatts mother, told 12 News her son loved his job and saw it as an opportunity to give back to the community. He enjoyed the militarys structure and taking a leadership role, she said. ‘Its what he wanted to do’ Martin said.” My heart breaks for Specialist Martin and his family. The next time you see your family, hug them a little tighter and when you do, remember that Wyatt J. Martin gave the ultimate sacrifice so that you and your loved ones can live free. Carry Specialist Martin in your heart and keep him in your prayers this holiday season. I know I will.
