Today as I set in my recliner watching a little football with no doubt a full stomach I received a facebook message....... Hey Coach Jeff are you busy? I reply.... No, how are you? He replies.... In desperate need of food can you help?? 10 minutes later I am at his house picking him up to go grocery shopping. I could tell by the look on his face he was embarrassed and disappointed. I pushed the cart as he picked out the foods he wanted. I did not say a word the first 15 minutes of shopping. He let me know he was about finished. He basically had picked out a couple loaves of bread, some meat, cheese, peanut butter and jelly and a jug of milk. The cart was less than 20% full. At that point, I told him we needed to fill his fridge up. We got a little of everything but he was most excited about the cookie isle! As we drove back home we had a nice long talk about money and being a good steward of what God continues to provide for us. We pulled up to the house and unloaded the groceries. There was not a cracker in the kitchen and we filled up that fridge! He thanked me many times and I told him how much I loved him and how much more Christ loves him. As I was leaving I noticed there was no dining room table or chairs to eat on. So, I asked him where do you guys eat? He answered... We just scatter. There are soooo many life lessons to this story and I could write a book on this post. But the one lesson that hit me the hardest today was that God has really blessed me in so many ways that I take for granite on a daily basis. So, dont set in your recliner! Acts 20:35 And I have been a constant example of how you can help those in need by working hard.
