Today, as I worked out some intricate fingerings on Schuberts Impromptu in Gb, it occurred to me that I was sharing an experience over time, with someone who lived 200 years ago. I wondered what fingering Schubert had used. Throughout most of this piece, the fingerings are unambiguous and rather obvious, but my past self had blown it in 1 or 2 cases, and had penciled in some very bad choices. I will obtain a pencil with an eraser that hasnt oxidized, and make the changes. Fortunately, I played this piece years ago, and the finger memory is coming back very nicely. Just a few corrections to be made. It was nice to commune with Franz Schubert today!!
