Today at 5:00 pm is the day our pre-order exclusives open on PledgeMusic! Here, once again, is the statement from the band as to why we are doing this. First we want to say hello, and such a big thank you to all of you, new fans and old friends, who like or support what we are doing. You are the reason we are able to do what we want to do - youre the most honest and loyal support we have. Everything we have achieved is because of you. And we appreciate that so very much. From our early days as Imagica, from the growth of the internet and digital music, we have done our best to ride the waves of change by adapting and adjusting to whatever came along. Like many other bands over the last few years, we have seen our sales decline while our popularity rose. We give props to the people who buy and we dont judge the people who find our music or support us in other ways. It is what it is, and we are happy to be part of it and grateful for our successes. When the new crowdfunding sites came along, we found the idea interesting, but we were reluctant to jump in unless we knew it was going to be a good deal for our supporters as well as for us. We have reached the point where we can see the benefit for both of us to try this out and so we are announcing that on Friday February 7th at 5:00 pm Eastern Standard Time, The Birthday Massacre will be opening a funding campaign for our next record on PledgeMusic! We looked at other campaigns and then decided to offer things that we thought were good value but also in the spirit of who we are. We sat down and talked about bands that we like, and what sort of things wed like to see them offer if they were to run a similar campaign. For us, thats everything from behind-the-scenes videos and photos into the writing, recording and touring process, to a peek into the private lives of band members, and of course, one-of-a-kind opportunities like a chance to hang out with the band, create artwork with the band, purchase items from videos and stage props - were going to have a list on this page you can peek at and see if theres anything that you find interesting. For those of you who have been buying our records, downloads, merch, or coming to our concerts it is a chance to find something that will personalize your connection with us. For those who have found our music in other ways it is your opportunity to show your support for a band who you think deserves it. Were going to offer exclusive video updates to everyone who supports, whether its an exclusive t shirt or a studio visit with us. Were looking forward to sharing those with you - documenting the writing/recording process is a unique experience for us as well, something we havent done before. Our goal here is to help fund this next record - the recording, mixing, and mastering process, as well as printing, artwork, etc. Anything above and beyond those expenses will go towards other goals we have in 2014 - creating videos, touring, and maybe even some unique merchandise. Also - and this is one of the reasons were very into working with PledgeMusic - well be donating portion of the money to an anti-bullying charity. Thats a cause we can relate to very personally, and PledgeMusic is unique in offering bands a chance to donate to such a cause. Were happy to be part of that, and well be updating you on those details as well as the campaign continues. Whatever your reason, we will appreciate your participation in our next record and we look forward to giving you updates and access to some of what we are doing these days. Were working alongside our label, Metropolis Records, to make this campaign happen, and were anxious to see how it turns out.
