Today at church I served as an usher . I greeted people at the door, passed out flyers and guided them to their seats. Midway through my services a woman who had heard me preach elsewhere approached me and asked why I was ushering I thought you were important she said. Am I less important because Im ushering? I replied. She shrugged ..... the idea that one method of serving God is better than another or that the position God has placed you in somehow make you better than others is ridiculous. There are no small parts in the body of Christ & just because youve been called to preach doesnt mean youre more important than anyone else. From the pastor to the janitor, we are all servants.
