Today at rehab counseling a 24 year old guy told me a pretty amazing truth: Sobriety is not for people who need it. Sobriety is not for people who want it. Sobriety is for people who do the work. Its the same as needing to lose weight, or even wanting to lose weight...youve got to change your habits. But at the same time you have to understand the solution. Im already seeing a glimpse of hope on the other side and Ive decided for the first time ever, to listen to other people...experts. Today I had extensive counseling with a stress and anxiety expert. She told me a wonderful thing. Its not my fault...and I will get better. She also told me my sobriety is a gift to myself and the world. I came home and made dinner for my two beautiful roommates and then swam about 30 laps in the pool. Im a ball of excitement. Im starting to get it. Thank you for all your support. It means the world.
