Today at the AMC Restoration Shop we passed a major milestone - TopicsExpress

Today at the AMC Restoration Shop we passed a major milestone where we fired up two fresh engines (in a 68 AMX and a crossram SC/Rambler :-)) that we built in house. Much to our delight, both engines ran lawlessly during break in with each having extraordinary oil pressure and cool running temperatures throughout the break in process despite near 100 degree temps in the desert southwest. This is the first time in well over 40 years of AMC ownership, restorations and builds that I have broken in two engines in a single day. The prior closest event was just two weeks ago when we tried to break in two engines in the same two cars as today over a two day period where both engines failed due to machine shop assembly errors. Over the past two weeks we have worked around the clock to essentially rebuild and rectify one of the engines that was repairable PLUS build another totally separate engine in house to replace the other one that failed. Today I am extremely pleased that both new engines fired up and ran flawlessly for the full break in period. An extra added bonus was a result of also reaching an agreement to to let a prior deal for the Sienna Orange 74 401 Jav AMX expire making that car available again which totally takes the heat off the AMC Restoration Shop for finishing up past commitments that are overdue now that we are overwhelmed with restoration work on outside cars. Letting the prior agreement lapse also negates the very time consuming effort to convert the 74 Jav AMX to a 4 speed setup from its factory auto so we will now move forward on returning the car to being one of only a handful remaining 100% factory original 74 401 Jav AMX with AC cars. Today was a very good AMC day!!!
