Today at work. Walking to the little girls room and looked out - TopicsExpress

Today at work. Walking to the little girls room and looked out front door. There is an elderly gentleman in a wheelchair shuffling with his feet trying to get to his destination. He got stuck as there was a slight hill. He did not have the strength to move further so he stopped and bowed his head to rest. I thought oh surely one of those people walking by will help him. My heart started to pound and yelled out someone show this man respect!! Nope. In fact, I noticed they went out of their way to dismiss and ignore him. Well that just pissed me off. This man deserved respect!! So I walked out and approached him. Sir, may I have the honor of helping you? Oh thank you so much. I really tried getting up this hill, but my legs grew tired. So I pushed him a ways and we chatted. It was a beautiful day. Sun shining. Slight breeze. Great company. He was leaving the VA hospital to go home. He was a Veteran of our country and people walked on by. My heart cried. He deserved better. He told me thank you for helping. I replied, no sir, thank you for the honor. People, dont walk by when someone needs help. You may be blessed and realize you were the one helped. Oh, I did ask him if I could help him do a wheelchair wheelie. He chuckled. We laughed together.
