Today driving with Ezra in Petaluma we passed by a man jogging down the sidewalk, wearing a bright pink bikini top, an American flag as a cape, and a sparkly pink tutu. I looked in the rearview mirror to catch Ezra (5.5) raising his eyebrows, his jaw dropped. I quietly giggled to myself at his exression, and refrained from comment. Ezra was quiet for a moment and then said, calmly, maturely: Well, that sure was an interesting runner. I nodded in agreement, muffling my giggles: Yes, he certainly was wearing an interesting outfit, wasnt he? Ezra said: Why do you think he decided to dress like that on his run? I shook my head: I really dont know, Babe. He was quiet, then said, thoughtfully: Maybe he just woke up and said: Today is a Tutu day! At that I burst out laughing.... I just couldnt contain myself. He laughed too and then added, with humor: And then he thought to himself: My flag cape will look great with this tutu! I giggled uncontrollably, so in love with my little boys mind. We giggled together more, and then settled down. After a minute he said: You know what? If Arayla was here shed ask you if that man had a mental sickness. I was more serious, at that comment, and asked him: Are you wondering about that? He shook his head: No. You know what I think? Sometimes mans just really like to dress up all pretty. Its ok with me. Is it ok with you Mama? I smiled at him in the mirror: Yes. Its totally ok with me, Love. And we drove on....
