... Today, everyone has a cell phone. It is very easy to tell when people are ignoring you when you call and either you get an answering machine most of the time, or you never get a call back, and that goes for texting as well. What it clearly says is that you are unimportant to the one you are trying to reach, and that is flat out rude. It doesnt speak well of your character and causes the other person to think ill of you when you never return a call. They come to the conclusion that you dont care and actually wish for them to disappear. Its unfriendly. Whatever happened to being civil? Why are others so self-absorbed? The cell phone, a device used to actually keep in contact with people at the touch of a button, has actually robbed our world of the art of being neighborly. Of taking the time out of our precious schedules in order to find friends and family in fact, most precious. We have become so technologically advanced and yet have drawn such a tight circle around ourselves that we have forgotten that other people matter, and that they need us as well. If I didnt need one, Id throw my cell phone away. It has proven to be a curse instead of the blessing that it was intended to be. But I keep it because I value people and need to be reachable in the event that there is an emergency. I wait patiently for YOUR call. I only wish that when I called, that people would pick up the stupid phone. I know that they have it with them, and that call list says that I called, or texted. No one is that busy that they cant take the time to return a call. By not picking up the phone and returning that call, it actually speaks a lot louder and more clearer than if you just picked up the phone and engaged in a shallow conversation. It speaks volumes. And people wonder why the next time they see that person who tried so many times to call, that they want to ignore them, and in turn think that it is them being rude, when all along it was you.
