Today exactly 113 years ago, 3rd December 1901, Goa woke up to a tragedy in River Mandovi. A launch called GOA , taking devotees to the St. Francis Xavier Feast to Old Goa from Verem, Betim capsized in the River Mandovi and 81 people lost their lives. A Cross by Goans from the colony of Aden,built near the Panjim Ferry Wharf in 1904, recounts the sad memory. Even today, we still do not seem to learn from tragedies!!
