Today has been a day riddled with chaos, anger, fear and uncertainty. #Grindstop With the senseless murder of 33 Whales and arrest of 14 Sea Shepherd Crew Members emotions are extremely heightened. These brave men and woman have risked freedom, life and limb to help protect and save some our worlds most majestic creatures. I will forever be grateful to them for everything they sacrifice. I understand how upset and enraged we become when things like this occur. That being said, I would like to ask that we refrain from making derogatory and nasty comments that generalize an entire population and/or culture. As I said, I completely understand the frustration and anger. I know all we want to do is lash out. Please keep in mind that this adds fuel to the fire of the murderers. It also alienates people who may be wanting to join our fight but are offended by the generalized comments. When a fellow Shepherd was attacked by a Faroese man, he tried to reason with that person and did not fight back. He could have easily became a willing participant in the fight. He could have easily fought back. He could have easily cursed the man and returned his punches. Instead, he tried to reason and remain calm. He is an inspiration. I will admit I have some very nasty words for the murderers themselves, however I do not curse and entire village for what one idiot may do. I hope you understand my position.
