Today has been a really good day. My precious friend has enjoyed being in her sons new house. She took the grand tour again this morning seeing it all through rested eyes and the joy on her face and in her voice was so beautiful to see. We saved the best room for last. Her son had a shower built that I could push her (in her wheelchair) all the way into. Before she saw it I had set up everything we needed for her to shower. As we turned through a pathway leading into the shower she was very curious as to what this was. Then she saw this beautiful open shower that by now she was in the middle of. I already had her walker in there so I told her I needed her to stand for a minute so I could show her something. When she stood up her son switched her wheelchair for a shower chair. Thats when she realize she was about to get a shower. She smiled and said that we were sneaky. Lol. I knew if I told her beforehand she would have so many objections thinking it wasnt going to be possible. The smile on her face as the water first touched her body was as beautiful as a childs on Christmas morning. I had never thought about how much a person misses the feeling of water flowing over their body when it no longer does. Yeah bed baths suck. My friend and her son are both Jewish but her daughter-in-law is Christian. Tuesday was the first night of Hanukkah . After the exhausting day we had she went to sleep not long after we arrived so she missed the lighting of the first candle. Tonight they lit the second candle and had their Hanukkah celebration. I received my very first Hanukkah gift tonight:) After this it was time to help her daughter-in-law put up the Christmas tree. Although my friend wasnt able to physically place any ornaments on the tree she definitely could tell us where we should put them:). It was nice being able to watch them all decorate and share memories of holidays past. As I sat and watched I thought about how each year people grumble over whether you should say Happy Holidays or Merry Christmas. Tonight I saw three people with two different sets of beliefs come together and celebrate both with pure love in their hearts and a mutual respect for each other. This was such a blessing for me to experience. Maybe everyone should respect others enough to not get offended when someone uses a different holiday greeting than they do..... We are heading home around 8 in the morning so keep us in your prayers. I love you all! Namaste
