Today has been a special day for me. I went to an predominantly Muslim school in Whitechapel with an incredible organisation called Diversity Role Models and participated in two workshops that involved having an honest and open talk to the kids about being gay and homophobia and bullying. I talked about my own school experiences and how that made me feel and shared my story as did my two fellow role models. The young students were articulate and honest and incredibly inspiring. I was amazed at their maturity and feel blessed to have been a part of today. I went as an educator but came away enlightened myself. If these young people are indicative of the future, its a bright one. If anyone wants to know more about Diversity Role Models and the work that they do and how to support them then look them up at diversityrolemodels.org
