Today has been exhaustingly long. Got out of the house as early as we could did a couple errands and set up vet appointments for the week for sheep and ultrasounding cattle Headed to bowman 50 miles away with the lambs and goats for the market. Got there and kept one back to be ultrsounded as she may have been marked by the ram. Let the boys go through the pens and see the other sheep for sale. There was a nice set of 250 1-6 year old bred Targhee ewes. Of course the boys fell in love. Couldnt stay to watch the sheep as they wouldnt start til afternoon and we still had to go to the farm to do chores. So we headed back to baker and then to farm. Went up to alpacas and goats to load up cormos for their vet appointment in morning. They will be ultrasounded and blood drawn for CL and OPP. Started taking care of goats and alpacas with boys and we had only a couple hours of daylight left to get done with chores. I carried water to my boer pen and was faced with my buck Smokin Hot severely bloating but not unable to breathe yet. Luckily I had my bloat mix in the suburban and got some down his throat right away. Loaded him in with sheep and asked the boys to finish the jobs there and rushed down to other place to get him more treatment. Gave him a couple shots and mixed up more baking soda, molasses, water, and Therabloat. Got four syringes down his throat. Started up skid steer to feed and went to warming room and fed my rabbits and pigs. Said many prayers for him and came back to check him and the bloat was significantly reduced. Thank God finally the devil didnt win. Fed cows and calves and absolutely froze to death. We finished up in the dark and trekked home with lambs and goat in tow. Got home at 7oclock. Hopefully by weeks end we will know what our lamb crop will be and when theyre due. And the blood work will be back in a couple weeks and hopefully theyll be negative if not some will go to auction. Since no chance to do photos today I will do photos of what I wished it was like today
