Today, home again! So glad to be home, but not as glad as Bullet - TopicsExpress

Today, home again! So glad to be home, but not as glad as Bullet is to have me home. You see, Bullet decided to head for Montana to find his Mom. Definitely a puppy thought and one you will not be surprised to find was an epic fail. Oldest daughter very kindly was on pet watch while Mr. M and I headed to Montana for the Hello Peanut shower. It was a beautiful sunny day on Sunday and oldest daughter decided to treat Grandsons to the last game of the Mariners season. She put Bullet and her dog, Maggie May, into the backyard to sun themselves in the autumn rays while she was gone. At the same time in Montana, Mr. M was fishing for brook trout and I was playing with Hello Peanut presents. I returned to my hotel room and got a call from oldest daughter that there had been a terrible accident on I-90 closing all lanes at our Preston exit forcing her to find another way home. I called several times to check that she had gotten home safely, but got no answer. I would later learn the reason. At the same time in Preston, oldest daughter arrived home to find Maggie May howling in the backyard. Howling alone. No sign of Bullet. Daughter searched the neighborhood stopping to talk with Santa (he lives on our street) and every neighbor out in their yards. No one had seen Bullet. She called her fishing Father with the news. He warned her not to tell me my precious Bullet was missing. Not able to lie to me, she just didnt answer her phone. Hence the fact I was unable to reach her. At the same time in Upper Preston, Bullet had traveled down the mountain to the Raging River, crossed, and ended his travels in the yard of a concerned woman who thought he was far too well cared for to be a stray. She tried to tempt him with treats. He would get just within an arms length, scream like a little girl and back himself into a corner. Soon several concerned neighbors gathered to help the little lost Bullet, the Blunder Dog. At the same time on the street above, oldest daughter was having a heart attack. She had visions of Bullet dead in the road, or him having become the Bears evening meal. She stopped a young woman jogging. Yes, she had seen Bullet in the small community down by the river. Oldest daughter prayed as she drove down the narrow river road. At the same time down by the Raging, the ever growing crowd of concerned neighbors was trying to save Bullet before twilight changed to dark. Around the corner came oldest daughter. She jumped from the car and ran for the crowd. Bullet, recognizing one of his people, ran screaming for the car and jumped in the front seat. The crowd and oldest daughter were all relieved. Once Bullet was safely home I learned of his adventures. Bullet has been wrapped around my ankle since I got home. He is suffering from some well deserved nightmares. Chips are great if a dog is found and you can collect him. Useless if you cant find him or get your hands on him. The GPS collar arrives today. Taking no chances.
