Today in 1653 Johann Pachelbel was born. Known mostly for his composition of Cannon and Gigue for 3 Violins and Basso Continuo. The link to that song is below referred to as Cannon In D Major. The interesting thing about this song is that it was a cannon and a chaccone at the same time. What an amazing innovation in music! He was very popular in his day. His legacy will always be more than the few pieces of his music that remains. He was the organ instructor for Johann Christoph, and Johann Christoph was the organ instructor of J.S. Bach. It is what we pour into people that creates our legacy, who knows, you could be influencing one of the greatest composers of all time. As a side note, many believe the cannon was written for the wedding of J.S. Bach s older brother. Enjoy this great composition which is below in the original arrangement.
