Today in 1992 Impaled Nazarene released there debut album Tol Cormpt Norz Norz Norz... Oulu,Finland Black Metal Status:Active Years active: 1990-present Impaled Nazarene is a Finnish black metal band that incorporates elements of grindcore in their sound and punk rock in their aesthetics. The band is currently signed to Osmose Productions of France. Impaled Nazarene are credited, along with Beherit and Archgoat, to pioneering the Finnish Black Metal scene. The band gained national success when their first album, Tol Cormpt Norz Norz Norz, entered the Finnish charts. Since this event, Impaled Nazarene have released 10 subsequent albums in which many have reached positions on international charts. Their ninth studio album, Pro Patria Finlandia, was the top album import of Japan. Impaled Nazarene have toured with many bands such as Cannibal Corpse, Mayhem and Dark Tranquility in 4 continents and over 30 countries. When asked about the origin of their name, Mika Luttinen stated in an interview that he had read a pamphlet about Christ appearing to be a vampire. He got to thinking about how impaling a vampire is one of the only ways to kill them, and thus, thought of the name Impaled Nazarene.[citation needed] The band was infamous for seeming to hate the Norwegian black metal scene back in the early 1990s however the band now seems to disassociate with such hatred. It has been ascertained that the origin of such hate was the fact that singer Mika Luttinen had been subjected to telephone pranks by members of fellow Finnish metalheads Beherit, which he interpreted as attacks from members of the Norwegian black metal scene. They also stopped wearing corpse paint in the mid 1990s due to it being too trendy. In 2003, guitarist Teemu Raimoranta died falling – or jumping – off a bridge on the ice below. Although officially stated to be caused by intoxication, Mika Luttinen speculated it was suicide Osmose Productions Mikaakim Vocals Kimmoomik Drums, Guitars (lead) Taneli Jarva Bass Jarno Anttila Guitars 1.
