Today in 2007, Vernon Forrest won the vacant WBC junior middleweight belt by UD in 12 rounds over Carlos Manuel Baldomir. In a better-than-expected fight, Forrest used his jab and range to control much of the action, though not without appearing stunned at a few points. Forrest was rocked in the 9th round, in addition to losing a point for hitting low. The belt had been vacated by Floyd Mayweather.
