Today in 80s History: 1980- Too Hot, by Kool & The Gang, peaked at #5 on the pop singles chart 1982- Andy Kaufman (TV- Latka on Taxi) wrestled pro Jerry Lawler. The match supposedly landed Kaufman in the hospital for 3 days, and he wore a neck brace after his release. Weeks later, the two appeared on Late Night with David Letterman and would have what looked to be a real fight. Lawler slapped Kaufman, hard, across the face, and in return Kaufman threw coffee on the wrestler 1986- If You Leave, by Orchestral Maneuvers In The Dark, from the movie Pretty in Pink, entered the Top 40 chart. It went on to peak at #4 1986- R.O.C.K. in the U.S.A., by John Cougar Mellencamp, peaked at #2 on the pop singles chart 1987- Married…With Children (Al Bundy- Ed O’Neill, Peg Bundy- Katey Sagal, Kelly Bundy- Christina Applegate, Bud Bundy- David Faustino, Marcy- Amanda Bearse, Jefferson- Ted McGinley 1991-1997) debuted. It ended in 1997
