Today in Africa: in Sierra Leone I stay in a guest house overlooking a soccer field. Many mornings I sit on the veranda and watch the teams train. The past couple of mornings I have been joined by another guest, an 81 year old man from Ivory Coast. Moses has had an interesting life including being an army captain serving in Vietnam, Spain, Mauritania. Egypt, etc. He also was asked by the UN to come to the USA to assist with world development issues (he showed me the letter of invitation). He is asked for his counsel by African presidents. He is a great conversationalist not only verbally but also with his hands, almost an art form. What a pleasure to be a captive audience to this man who knows so much about Africa, its culture, its history, its people. Cant wait for the next lesson.
