Today in Cape Canaveral history: 4 August 1899: Mr. George de G. Schuyler, of Canaveral, arrived in port, Monday, on board the yacht Una, owned by Capt. Penny. Mr. Schuyler’s object in coming to town was to receive a 6-horsepower Globe gas engine, which he is going to have placed in his yacht Erl King. This boat has been altered and re-fitted throughout, and will soon make regular trips between Titusville, Canaveral, Nathan, and Artesia, on the Banana River, where orange and other citrus trees are comparatively free from frost in winter. – Indian River Advocate.
