Today in Filipinas is the Fiesta of Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno Negro in the Iglesia de Quiapo, Manila. The Cristo Negro statue was originally constructed by an anonymous Mexican carpenter in Mexico in 1606 and has been in in Manila ever since. Yearly, around 500,000 devotees follow its procession through the streets of Manila yelling Viva, Viva Nuestro Padre as they attempt to get near the miraculous statue.
