Today in History - July 17 • 1859, born, Curtis Gates Lloyd, the youngest of the three Lloyd brothers who began Lloyd Brothers, Pharmacists, Inc. (d. 1926). He established the monetary trust that supports the Lloyd Library and Museum still today. • 1955, born, Paul Stamets, American mycologist and environmentalist • 1901, died, Charles Theodore Mohr, German-born American botanist who collected in Surinam. He was later a druggist in Alabama and wrote about the plants of the state (b. 1824).
