Today in KinKs history: January 20, 1965 The Kinks make their first appearance on American television, singing You Really Got Me and All Day and All Of the Night on the ABC-TV program Shindig!. Though this prime-time music show emanates from Los Angeles, the Kinks performance was filmed a month earlier at Shepperton Studios just outside of London. (Other British acts filmed in London for this same episode are the Dave Clarke Five, Petula Clark, Gerry and the Pacemakers, and the Rolling Stones.)
