Today in OSC History: On July 31, 1712, Rev. Samuel Willard was removed to his second and final resting place in Bostons Granary Burying Ground. In 1707, upon his death, Willard was interred in the spacious Hull-Sewall family tomb belonging to Old South Church member Judge Samuel Sewall. In 1712, Old South Church was able to build a tomb (no. 160) for our departed minister. Next time you find yourself in this historic cemetery, stop to read the tablets at the front gates … Rev. Willard is listed as one of the distinguished men buried inside.
