Today in OSC History: On October 12, 1713, at Old South Church, Joseph Sewall preached on Romans 8:6 - For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Later that day, Rev. Ebenezer Pemberton read aloud to the congregation Sewalls letter of acceptance to serve as his colleague pastor. Rev. Sewall was the son of church member Judge Samuel Sewall of Salem Witch Trial infamy. He served Old South until his death in 1769.
