Today in Rock History, October 16, 1965: The Beatles recorded “Day Tripper” at EMI Studios in London. The song would later reach number five on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. The released master contains one of the most noticeable mistakes of any Beatles song, a drop-out at 1:50 in which the lead guitar and tambourine momentarily disappear. John Lennon wrote much of the music and most of the lyrics, while Paul McCartney worked on the verses. Lennon later cited Bobby Parkers 1961 song Watch Your Step as his inspiration for the famous guitar riff. https://youtube/watch?v=jhdPDI9OeY8
