Today in Royal History : 6 June 1905 - Crown Prince Wilhelm of Germany (6 May 1882 – 20 July 1951) married in Berlin, Duchess Cecilie of Mecklenburg-Schwerin (20 September 1886 – 6 May 1954). He was the eldest son of Wilhelm II, the last German Emperor and his first wife Princess Augusta Viktoria of Schleswig-Holstein. His bride was the younger daughter of Friedrich Franz III of Mecklenburg-Schwerin and Grand Duchess Anastasia Mikhailovna of Russia. The wedding ceremony took place in the Royal Chapel and also the nearby Berlin Cathedral, where guests from different European royal houses awaited the young couple including Grand Duke Michael Alexandrovich of Russia, representing his brother, Tsar Nicholas II, Archduke Franz Ferdinand, representing the Austrian Emperor Franz Josef, as well as representatives from Denmark, Italy, Belgium, Portugal and the Netherlands. On her wedding day, Kaiser Wilhelm II presented his daughter-in-law with the Order of Louise.
