Today in Western New York Weather History : 1970 A tornado touched down in Eden, Erie county, at 3:25pm and did considerable damage along its 200 yard path. A home was completely destroyed and a nearby barn collapsed. Thunderstorms downed trees and power lines causing widespread power outages in Chautauqua and southern Erie counties. 2001 Thunderstorms moved across Oswego county and were enhanced by lake breezes off Lake Ontario. The damaging thunderstorm winds downed trees and power lines across the county from Granby through Volney and Hastings. An isolated severe thunderstorm over the Genesee River valley downed trees in Letchworth State Park about five miles southwest of Mount Morris. 2005 A warm front brought showers and thunderstorms to the region. Severe storms developed along an outflow boundary over Chautauqua county. Thunderstorm winds downed trees and power lines in Jamestown and Panama. Also in Panama, a roof was torn off a barn.
