Today in Western New York Weather History : 1975 Cayuga and Scajaquada creeks overflowed on the 30th, along with wide stretches in north Buffalo, Cheektowaga and Depew. Delaware Park Lake rose to eight feet above flood stage. 1984 The passage of an active cold front brought storms throughout western and central New York. Although the storm itself lasted only about 20 minutes in most parts of western New York it was accompanied by strong winds and heavy rains. Just before 11am, strong winds and a possible funnel were reported from the Dunkirk observer. Winds downed trees and a large tree fell on a house on Washington Avenue in that town. About the same time, wind gusts to 35 mph and heavy rain occurred at Youngstown (Niagara county) as reported by the Niagara Coast Guard. Trees were downed at Point Breeze near Angola New York. A mobile home, boat and trailer were also destroyed there. In the town of Evans, power was lost at 11:30am, leaving 1500 customers without service. Numerous trees were downed and winds were estimated at 50 mph. Police reported a tree had crashed through a house causing extensive damage. No injuries were reported. 1991 Thunderstorms developed over Southern Ontario in a flow of warm, humid air and then moved into the western parts of Northern New York. The thunderstorm winds downed trees and power lines in Cape Vincent, Jefferson county. 1993 An isolated thunderstorm moved onshore from Lake Erie and moved across Chautauqua County. The thunderstorm winds downed large trees and limbs in the Village of Cassadaga.
