Today in history: Kwesi Nyantakyi elected as the first GFA president On Friday, 30th December 2005 Kwesi Nyantakyi was elected as the president of the Ghana Football Association. It was a landslide victory for Nyantakyi, who before then had been serving as the acting chairman of the Ghana FA, following the resignation of Dr. Nyaho Tamakloe as the chairman of the association. He won 91 votes out of a possible 122 to claim a four-year term in office, as the first GFA president because the leader of the Ghana FA before Nyantakyis tenure was called GFA chairman, but his time ushered in a new era.
