Today in my post I talked about socialism and its danger to the work of God. If you have not read them I encourage you to take the time and do so. The greatest threat to this country is not political ideology, it is not China, or any other country; the greatest threat to this country is the number of people who depend upon this country for their living. Poverty is the greatest national security threat that we face. It is not just the number of people who depend upon our treasury for their living but it is the culture that exist, it is the mindset that prolonged entitlements create. This post is not about the poor and what they receive. This post really is about leadership. Let’s be clear about some things. Poverty is a curse and not a blessing. “The destruction of the poor is their poverty.” KJ Another translations says, “the poor mans need is his destruction.” And another translation says, “The ruin of the poor is their poverty.” Prov. 10:15 Not one poor person entered the Promised Land, and according to Jewish scholars each man, woman and child was rich. And even before any one of them took charge of their own finances God set up a system so that when anyone did make financial mistakes – God provided a remedy ahead of time. God set up a system not only that there be no poor but he also set up a system of justice and warned what would happen if the poor was mistreated or taken undue advantage of. FINALLY: “No one in Israel should ever be poor. The LORD your God is giving you this land, and he has promised to make you successful, if you obey his laws and teachings that I’m giving you today. You will lend money to nations, but you won’t have to borrow. You will rule many nations, but they will not rule you.” Deut. 15:3 CEV
