Today, in our Muslim community, we have no perfect organizations. Nor should we allow their imperfections to overshadow the immense good that they have done. For decades, ISNA and its leadership have facilitated so much good for the Muslim community in North America. Establishing and providing support for hundreds of mosques and institutions, they have at the very least preserved the deen and Muslim identity of tens of thousands of North American Muslims. Through their conventions, theyve also provided a platform for many Muslim activists, organizations, and businesses to network with and learn from one another. On a personal level, ISNA and its sister organizations (MYNA/MSA) have been an extremely positive influence in my life since a young age. In fact, I dont know where I would be today without them. All organizations can lose direction and make mistakes, big and small, but mistakes and misdirection can be remedied. Optimism, patience, and wisdom are from the Prophets sunnah just as much as courage. And it is a core part of our religion to never let todays anger towards someone compel us to show ingratitude or even deny all the good that theyve done for us in the past.
