Today in our history: 11/09/1940 - HMCS COUGAR - the first of that name in the RCN, the second being a Fairmile motor launch - is commissioned at Esquimalt as an armed yacht. She was employed initially on antisubmarine patrols out of Esquimalt, and then transferred in 1942 to the Prince Rupert force. Postwar she was known by her original name, Breezin Thru. She sank off Kingston, Jamaica in a hurricane in September 1950.
